Glamour....
Greece Aegean Sea Island of Simi (Dodecanese).
Simi is just a tiny bit of land in the Aegean Sea that can hardly be spotted on the map. Yet,during Ottoman occupation, the island thrived and her captains were considered among the richest subjects of the empire trading all over Mediterranean.Their houses were imposing and richly decorated mansons and till today remain infallible indexes of a past prosperity. Now their gran gran children struggle to maintain them... During the nation uprise for independance(1821), they contributed substantially with ships and money.

they still look cheerful and quite glamorous! so does the sparkling sea, by the way! what a great eternal moment – yes, the oxymoron feels right here! ; ) – you captured with this image, alexander! a remote settlement in the aegean sea that despite being beyond its heyday, still looks like a literal gem, especially to those who see it from the open water! what strikes me most about it is the way the top of the mountain is still bare, without houses, which probably due to the inhospitable nature of the rock, and yet it looks like a gesture of homage to the sun, sky and, perchance, THE GODS… ; ) greetings, sabine.ernesto haddad 01/06/2014 4:03
