I was lucky enough to go on a day trip from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon. What many forget is that the rim is over 2000 meters high. Being an American tour, the stopovers were designed for a quick look, toilets and shopping. But I risked a quick walk down one of the tracks only to discover the breathlessness, etc. of exercise at such altitudes to get back to the bus on time. But it was worth it for the views such as this. The drop below is up to 1600 metres to the Colorado River and the distance to the other side around 10,000...
Ich hatte das Glück einen Tagesausflug zum Grand Canyon mitzumachen. Viele so wie ich vergessen, dass die Oberkante etwa 2.000 üdm liegt. Es war eine amerikanische Tour also auf kurze Aufenthalte ausgerichtet (Gucken, Pieseln, Shoppen). Ich habe es aber gewagt, einen Pfad runter zu laufen, um mehr zu sehen, hatte aber die Auswirkung der dünnen Luft unterschätzt, und fasst den Bus verpaßt... Diese Aussicht war es aber wert - ca. 1600 m bis zum Colorado Fluß im Tal und 10.000 m bis zur anderen Seite...
