    Hi - I am a food still life photographer. Whereas the recipe could well be a great success i believe you could add to the success with some more thought about the lighting technique. Try not to use flash, particularly direct from camera. Have a look at using daylight, maybe through a window. Sometimes backlighting with reflectors in the front add some magic to a food/still life shot. Good that you tried though.
