Pink pelicans are real white. The name comes along that the male pelicans dye her plumage at the mating season. Then in the fat of her rump gland a pink colouring which they distribute with the plumage care on the whole body is produced. The furthermore white females find the little men most attractive whose plumage shines especially hard pink ones.

With a wingspan of 2,5 metres Pink's pelicans belong to the biggest birds capable of flight of our earth. They reach a weight from up to eleven kilogrammes. No miracle that it is not easy for them in such a way to rise in the air.

In summer live up to 70 percent of all pink pelicans in East Europe in the Danube delta.

Es ist Ihm nicht erlaubt zu fliegen; deswegen stutzte man ihm die Flügel, was man auf dem Foto schön sieht.

Rosa Pelikane sind eigentlich weiß. Der Name kommt daher, dass die männlichen Pelikane zur Paarungszeit ihr Gefieder verfärben. Im Fett ihrer Bürzeldrüse wird dann ein rosa Farbstoff produziert, den sie bei der Gefiederpflege auf dem ganzen Körper verteilen. Die weiterhin weißen Weibchen finden die Männchen am attraktivsten, deren Gefieder besonders kräftig rosa leuchtet.

Mit einer Flügelspannweite von zweieinhalb Metern gehören Rosapelikane zu den größten flugfähigen Vögeln unserer Erde. Sie erreichen ein Gewicht von bis zu elf Kilogramm. Kein Wunder, dass es ihnen nicht so leicht fällt, sich in die Luft zu erheben.

Im Sommer leben bis zu 70 % aller Rosa Pelikane in Osteuropa im Donaudelta.
