Horned Beetle
Taken in Costa Rica in the wild with a Nikon 28-70mm lense at a focal length of 70mm, F/10, shutter speed of 1/350, hand held.
We were traveling in our bus and spotted this along side of the road, there were probably a dozen in this area. The males fight using these horns.

This is a great shot, focus and composition. If you would like to see a different look to it, try to back off on the exposure or brightness a shade to bring out the color on the tree limb. It should contrast nicely with the beetle. I'm guessing you didn't drink coffee that morning of the shot! Very crisp, esp for hand held.Olivier Joubert 03/09/2005 9:21
