January 1959
Cuba
Havana
January 1959. Time zero for Cuba, Fidel Castro's guerilla groups enter Havana establishing a provisionary gobernment and starting a sebsequent six years struggle till fully consolidating his control around 1966. Former governor Batista escapes to Haiti and thousands of others, representing mostly the aristocrasy and a flourishing civilian class, flee also abroad taking anything they could liquadate in haste with them and abandoning behind palaces, mansion houses, rich residencies and luxurious cars in the hands of the locals that immediately establishe themselves as new legal proprietors.
Since then, more than fifty years after, these morbid remnants of a vanished aristocracy remain ruined, miserable, completely uncared without even a single layer of paint or a broken window glass repaired with locals going in and out of them through open doors as rats...Washings hang in luxurious verandas side by side to old family emblems and many of them remain close and sealed as if cursed and haunted...
Just another face of Havana apart from, music, booze and enjoyment....
