Der Kuiseb ist einer der groessten "Trockenriviere" in Namibia. Sein Auffanggebiet liegt im Khomas Hochland und er mündet in den Atlantik in der Umgebung von Walvis Bay. Bemerkenswert ist dass sein suedliches Ufer die Grenze des suedlichen Duenen-meers ist. Grund dafür ist dass er öfters Wasser führt und die Duenen dadurch nicht nach Norden weiter wandern können. An seinem Nordufer beginnen die grossen weissen Gypsum Flaechen der weissen Namib.Dieses Bild zeigt wie die Duenen an seinem Ufer enden.

The Kuiseb is one of the largest "Rivers" in Namibia - Its source is in the mountainous Khomas Hochland and it reaches the ocean in a delta close to Walvis Bay. Remarkable about the Kuiseb is that it forms the boundary of the southern dune belt (which includes Sossus Vlei) . It is in flood more frequently than most rivers in Namibia and the dunes cannot move across it as the floods carry the sand to the sea. It's northern shore boundary marks the beginning of the vast white gypsum plains termed the "White Namib'
