Limestone pavement in Crummackdale, North Yorkshire
In the upper reaches of Crummackdale are to be found vast areas of Limestone Pavement where glacially exposed Limestone has been eroded and sculpted over the millenia. It supports it's own unique flora within the gaps between the clints, or slabs. Very difficult to walk on as the clints shear horizontally and rock when you walk on them. When wet they are deadly.
