    Hello,

you did a very nice picture of a very nice animal!

But I´m sorry - it´s not Lithobius forficatus. L. forficatus belongs to the subclassis of the Chilopoda. They are very quick and carnivorous and kill their victims with a poisonous bite. They also have only 15 - 17 pairs of legs. Most of the Segments have 1 pair of legs. They have well developed eyes.

Your animal belongs to the subclassis of the Diplopoda. Most of the segments have two pairs of legs, they are slow and eat rotting leaves and wood... It belongs to the order of the Polydesmida and to the family of the Polydesmidae. They have these flat widenings on each segment and have no eyes.

Maybe it is possible, but I´m not able to determine the genus or species. The german name of the family is "Bandfüßer".

    Have a nice time,
    Norbert
