Medieval bridge of Ponte da Barca

(National Monument)

It is one of the most important medieval bridges in Portugal. It rises over the Lima River, where the ferry was previously used.
Built in the century. XV, features ten bows or warhead of varying sizes. Between the arches, on the eardrums, you can see some Gothic eyes, reinforcing the pillars sharp and robust prismatic Botareis. The easel floor is edged with railings, which Burgundy cantilevers help to support.
In the center, there are two beautiful scatters, with the coat of arms of the Arcos de Valdevez on the west side and the Ponte da Barca on the east side.
An intervention in 1961 allowed the widening of the middle part of the monument in order to facilitate traffic.
