Mount Meru Lion (so called men eaters )

Not often it happens to witness something special when one visits a NP and a dose of luck is helpful.
We stayed for 4 day’s at mount Meru NP and during our first days we saw quite some animals but nothing exceptional.
At the end of day 2 our camp manager told us that near to Elsa’s kopje (a famous lodge) an elephant died of natural course. We decided to leave very early the next morning and have a look.
A group of vultures and a terrible smell indicated us rapidly where the dead body was.
Totally unexpected we saw a male lion approaching the body who was already in a state of decomposition.

We positioned the car so that we did not went breathless of the horrible smell but also made sure having an open area to observe this lion male. These Mount Meru and Tsavo lions also called men eaters are typical with their short manes and are truly impressive with their savage look.
Alltough true the lens of the camera ,our eyes met briefly ,and during that moment I was really impressed of this lion making me realize how vulnerable we are.

The male lion continued eating on the hind leg and left about a hour later. We decided to stay in the hope that there would be more coming but,,,,,
A return on the next day, no other animals appeared except vultures who finished the carcass.
