Old church

Greece Aegean Sea Patmos
The tiny island Patmos belongs to the Dodecanese'It is called the Holy Island because it was there that in a cave St John wrote the Apocalypse(Revelation). The island has rich Byzantine history and many old churches, many of them built in strange rythms that present strong influences from other European church architectures. At the top of the island is the imposing monastery of St John(built in 1088) by emperor Comnenos. But the most interesting feature of the island is the capital Chora, built in an exceptional architectural style, also a merge of local and foreign influences that made it unique and protected by Unesco.
Among the very interesting constructions are also churches, one of them is in the photo...
