On a Klong in Lat Krabang
Bangkok was once criss-crossed with klongs (canals). Among other things, this provided important drainage for the recurring floods during the rainy season, especially in the months of September and October.
The devastating flood in 2011 was also due to human error because the entire floodplain was overdeveloped and the important klongs were increasingly filled in.
Klongs can still be found in their original state in the eastern suburbs of Bangkok. However, a tour on these canals is almost no longer possible because the Thais only travel on them very rarely. Sometimes these are completely covered by overgrown water hyacinths, making it almost impossible to get through.
Here in Lat Krabang, very close to the new Suvarnabhumi airport, we were able to take a colorful klong trip on a private boat. My photo shows the nets used by nearby residents to catch mudfish.

Sehr schön, hier findet sich noch das ursprüngliche Thailand. Beim Anflug auf Suvarnabhumi airport sieht man noch etwas von dieser Landschaft.LG, Herbert
