Once upon a time, ....
Once upon a time, there was a railway station, which was the most frequented one in whole Yugoslavia.
It was hard to find a place to stand, not even mentioning the possibility of a place to sit, in the waiting room. Trains came and went to Greece, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Hungary; even the Orient-Express passed the station. The place was a rail junction of many local lines from Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia. Some lines were already closed in the 80ies and when in 1991 the war started, the station was only a few kilometres from the front line and one of the main targets. Now the war has ended nearly 20 years ago but the station never returned to its old business.
