Two reasons why a lower perspective wouldn't have worked:
1. I had to cut off the ugly outboard motor at the rear end of the boat. It would have destroyed the entire composition.
2. To shoot from a lower position I were to jump into the (quite cold) water. Brrrr... ;-D

I much like the colors and shades of the water and the boat and I don't see any need for bigger aperture nor do I dislike the little waves in the water.*maybe* a little lower perspective would work better, but I can't really tell just by looking this picture.
good job, really like this one!

nice work, nice composition... I would suggest a higher apature here and maybe more peaceful water ...
