Royal Palace at Brussels (Belgium)

Not a picture of a castle this time, but one of a palace and even the Royal Palace of Belgium !

This is the official palace where the Belgian king ‘works’ and is located in the very heart of the city.
However it is not used as royal residence, because the king and his family live in another palace, on the outskirts of Brussels.

It is presumed that in the 11th century there was already a fortified castle on this spot that was part of the fortifications around the city of Brussels.

The present palace was built in 1829 and is characterized by many neo-styles.
The front facade that we see today was added in 1904.
