Sacrifice ceremony at a Bodhi tree

Along the stairways to the hilltop of Phou si in Luang Prabang we passed the holy Bodhi tree.
The tree is a large and very old sacred fig tree which is a hint to the original one located in Bodh Gaya, India, under which Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher later known as Gautama Buddha, is said to have achieved enlightenment. Bodhi trees are planted in close proximity to every Buddhist monastery and are the place for pilgrims, worshipers and bypassers to meditate and bring their offerings.
