Saker Falcon

(Falco cherrug)

is one of the largest and heaviest falcons.
The noble falcons (to which the saker falcon also belongs) are brilliant aerial hunters. They surpass all other birds in their flight and especially in the speed of their swooping flight whereby the saker falcon seizes its prey both in the air and on the ground.
Its horizontal flight speed is up to approx. 250 km/h.

Habitat:
Steppes, forest-steppe areas of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Austria, Hungary

Food: Small mammals, ground squirrels, birds, ducks

Size: f - approx. 58 cm m - approx. 46 cm
Weight: w - approx. 1.3 kg m - approx. 0.7 kg
Wingspan: w - approx. 129 cm m - approx. 104 cm

Life expectancy:
10-13 years in the wild, 16-20 years in captivity

Enemies: eagle owls, martens, falcons, humans

Sakerfalke
(Falco cherrug)

ist einer der größten und schwersten Falken.
Die Edelfalken (zu denen auch der Sakerfalke gehört) sind hervorragende Luftjäger. Sie übertreffen alle anderen Vögel in ihrem Flug und besonders in der Geschwindigkeit ihres Sturzfluges wobei der Sakerfalke seine Beute sowohl in der Luft als auch am Boden ergreift.
Seine horizontale Fluggeschwindigkeit beträgt bis zu ca. 250 km/h.

Lebensraum:
Steppen, Waldsteppengebiete Osteuropas und Zentralasiens, Österreich, Ungarn

Nahrung: Kleine Säugetiere, Erdhörnchen, Vögel, Enten

Größe: f - ca. 58 cm m - ca. 46 cm
Gewicht: w - ca. 1,3 kg m - ca. 0,7 kg
Flügelspannweite: w - ca. 129 cm m - ca. 104 cm

Lebenserwartung:
