Salvation is an imperative duty...
Mesopotamia, the cradle of human civilization, is being destroyed...Palmyra was the last to go..
Greece
A very old and historic monastery... It doesn't matter where, it doesn't matter which.. No need to be Acropolis, Parthenon, Pantheon, Capela Sistina, Louvre or so many others..It could be in jungle....It only means history and history is everywhere...The visit in this place and the humble tresors on the walls together with the late insidents in Middle East initiated some very unpleasant feelings to me...
Centuries old precious and semidestroyed frescoe masterpieces resist as galantly as possible defying either time or profane hands that have always acted as evil forces against the strong human tendency to worship, build and perpetuate through the skill of his own creativity, elements of terrestial beauty but also of divine and spititual inspiration. Among the humble and subdued light of candles and primitive windows, images and figures sprout
spooky but serene never to frighten but only to calm down fears, forgive faulty steps and ensure the love and mercy of God...
Their salvation is our duty.

Sadly there will always be those fanatics whose only desire is to destroy what is good and most likely very ancient...... The so called human race has a great deal to answer for.Now to your picture Alexander, the light and ambiance you have captured here is superb.

No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.
