I agree with Ralf: excellent contrast between different styles of architecture.Just to add an other example of pottery industry going downhill: there used to be a beautiful plant at Maastricht (NL), the Ceramique Maastricht with outstanding architecture.
Instead of preserving and reusing the buildings, they tore them down and constructed a 'modern' (space-ship like) museum of art (Bonnefantenmuseum) - a really childish and silly building. I assume, that there has been pressure from the office of monuments: a tiny fragment of the original ceramics plant has been 'preserced', i.e. the core of the building is still there, but 'enhanced' with modern attributes.

Nice contrast of the old bottle kiln and the modernistic building.Things look indeed rather bad in pottery and china all across Europe. Royal Boch ín La Louvière, Belgium, have just found themselves a new investor but will still reduce their workforce to a mere two dozen. They used to employ thousands in better days.
