Es ist eine Sandotter (Vipera ammodytes), die südosteuropäische Verwandte der Kreuzotter.
Die Sandotter wird viel größer als die Kreuzotter und sie hat eine deutlich zum Horn ausgeformte Schnauzenspitze und besiedelt trocken-warme Gegenden, wogegen die Kreuzotter eher kühle-feuchte Standorte bewohnt.
