Spring snowflake

The spring snowflake is often confused with the snowdrop (see picture below), but even though they belong to the same Amaryllis family, it are 2 different species.

The spring snowflake is native to southern and central Europe, from the Pyrenees to Ukraine, but they have been introduced and naturalized in many other parts of the northern hemisphere.

Dutch name : Lenteklokje
German name : Frühlings-Knotenblume (auch Märzenbecher genannt)
Latin name : Leucojum vernum
