Sticking out like a sore thumb...
This is not an albino because the iris' are yellow; this is classified as a White Melanistic Great Horned owl found near St. Louis Missouri many years ago. Obviously, he wasn't having such a good time in the wild. Absolutely NO camo to speak of, he was found starving. I shot this bird while on display at Zoo Atlanta about 20 years ago and I wonder if he is still alive...

@Alexandra...'weird' to some is merely a genetic anomaly to others. It happens in nature as it does in people...m.Alexandra Greenfruits 09/11/2007 18:15
thanks, this one is cute too, it's little bit weird, but cute. :DMonteen McCord 04/11/2007 13:20
@Andrea - For the eyes are the windows to the soul... This owl could live into his 30's in captivity. I hope he is still a roving ambassador of educational goodwill....m.Andrea Sagawe 04/11/2007 9:04
Those eyes look right into the soul.Hoping too he's still alive, though I don't know how old those bird can get.

I hope he is still alive. Those eyes almost look like fakes, they're so bright compared to the rest of him!Gerry
