This is a photo you want to look at for a long time.Wonderful colours --pink-blue-purple-grey.Moovement from the wawes.Then I thought about the three/thirds rule:horizon/see/land:middle!But you are right to do it this way.The rock in the foreground had to stay and the scy as well.You cannot crop anything here.So sometimes we have to go against the rules .This is the freedom of art.I love this picture.Greetings from Ingrid
(We have still a lot of rain in Namibia--yesterday in Walvisbay from 6 in the morning to 12 noon.Streets under Water.)

  Thank you for your to the point commentary. As far as I can see the "rules" merely reflect which we are most used to, and which generally make for pleasing compositions. I must add, though, that I know as many brilliant pics which do not conform to the rule of thirds - or any other rule- as that do!
  
  Glad you had some good rain... my goodness, so much rain in the desert! We are desperately waiting for it, the situation in the Western Cape still bad!
