The Crossing

Life goes on with people doing what is necessary. Children play in the background and dream of soccer superstars they seen on the corner from the local television shop. A girl comes from the open market with fresh sweet oranges that turn the dump area into garden of eden as she passes. He little brother has his wheel, his pacifier. He's the wheel man in a big truck seeing the world, his town from one pout to the next. He's no different than others. He already knows that when he gets older, he'll be playing soccer like the bigger boys that gesture to tourist with cameras to go fuck a sheep as only they know how to while throwing rocks and laughing. After all it's in their culture. Growing up I guess its both a child thing as well as an adult thing. Life is so censored and yet raw and barren as this field they play and cross about in.
