The Forum Romanum

Public buildings, places of worship, market halls and monuments were erected during the Roman period between the Capitol, the Palatine and Esquiline. Particularly gorgeous this area was designed in the imperial period. The more power and fame won the Roman Empire, the greater and the magnificent buildings of the Forum were designed under the respective consuls and emperors. At the end of the imperial era, the Roman Forum was a native of many centuries densely built complex. However, the actual ruins offer only a modest insight into the former center of the ancient city. In 1803 began the excavations. This is a 15 meter high layer of debris had to be removed
