i'm always amazed at leonardo's magic! the timeless or even contemporary aura of the people he paints, their striking humanity and earthliness: baby jesus resolutely inspecting the flower in his mother's hand, as any inquisitive child would do, and – even more fascinating! – mary, looking more like his big sister or a babysitter, rather than his mother, being charmed by his healthy liveliness and smiling delightedly down at him. love it, both the painting and your shot! for a moment i even thought the window in the back of the painting were a reflection showing a window in the hermitage! the golden frame with its intricate embellishments, cherubim and pillars – very beautiful and impressive, too! hugs, sabine.Lawson McCulloch 01/02/2014 10:33
