The Fungi World (205) : Hare’s Foot

Hare’s Foot is a delicate but short-lived fungus with a fruiting body that lives only a few hours before dissolving into a black mess.

The name is derived from its first stage of development when the fruiting body is covered with a white furry coat and a shape that resembles very much an (albino) hare's foot.

My shot shows the fungus already in an advanced state of aging.

Dutch name : Hazenpootje
German name : Hasenpfote
Latin name : Coprinopsis lagopus (formerly known as Coprinus lagopus)

A big thanks to Silvia Simonato. for the nomination of this picture !
