The Fungi World (223) : False Death Cap

December, late autumn. It’s getting gradually darker and colder in the forest, but there are still fungi growing there.
The party ain’t over yet ! :-))

***

False Death Cap is a fungus that can be found in deciduous and coniferous woodlands all over Europe and North America.
It has a strong smell of (raw) potato.

This species is mildly poisonous when eaten, but can be easily confused with the lethal toxic Death Cap (Amanita phalloides), hence its name.

Dutch name : Gele Knolamaniet
German name : Gelber Knollenblätterpilz
Latin name : Amanita citrina
