The Fungi World (241) : Scarletina Bolete

It’s fungi time again. Hurray ! :-))

In autumn, the forest is a real fascinating paradise for fungi with dozens of species that emerge from the soil.
Let’s have a look at what I found this year.

Today I start with the Scarletina Bolete.

************************************
Scarletina Bolete (also known as dotted stem bolete) is a massive fungus that prefers to grow on acid soil, late summer to autumn.
Its red coloured stem has a remarkable pattern of tiny dots.

The specimen that I spotted was already partly gnawed, but to my taste still worth looking.

Dutch name : Heksenboleet
German name : Flockenstieliger Hexenröhrling
Latin name : Boletus erythropus (syn. Boletus luridiformis)
