The Fungi World (253) : Honey Fungus
The Honey Fungus grows on deciduous trees and is usually appearing in the autumnal forest soon after the first heavy autumn rains.
This beautiful species however is a dangerous parasite of trees, causing an intensive white rot and ultimately death.
There is no cure against it and the fungus is responsible for large losses of timber each year.
Dutch name : Echte Honingzwam
German name : Gemeine Hallimasch
Latin name : Armillaria mellea

A good example of this fungus. Good documentation telling me that not all fungi live off dead organisms, some like this live off live plants and are deadly. Beautiful shot, again with a super pov.Regards,
