The Fungi World (345) : Burgundydrop Bonnet
I spotted this small fungus on a very dark spot in the forest.
The bell-shaped burgundydrop bonnet (also known as ‘bleeding fairy helmet’ or ‘bleeding mycena’) appears always on decaying stumps of deciduous trees, particularly beech.
When the flesh of this fungus is damaged, a dark blood-red juice comes out.
Dutch name : Grote Bloedsteelmycena
German name : Grosser Bluthelmling
Latin name : Mycena haematopus
