The Fungi world (70) : Oyster mushroom
A typical late autumn and winter fungus, attached directly to the tree on which it grows (a stem is mostly absent).
The cap is variable in colour (white, grey, tan or dark brown) depending on the wood it is growing on.
This fungus is frequently used in Japanese and Chinese cookery as a delicacy.
Dutch name : Gewone oesterzwam
German name : Austernseitling
Latin name : Pleurotus ostreatus
