The Ghost Station

The Ghost Station
somewhere in northern Greece at the borders with FYROM.

Trains always fascinated me. Since my early primitive locomotive drawings at school or toys scattered on floor, always generated three-dimensional trips and adventures in my imagination. Later on, in my university days, this has extended to an almost "erotic" bound having a three-month duration ticket in pocket securing traveling abroad with getting off wherever convenient to me. I adored taking pictures related to locomotives, I enjoyed the usual rush of the railway stations, the passengers on the hasty move, the noisy and smoked waiting rooms, the porters skilfully maneuvering their trolleys and carts through the rushing crowd, the boarding and compartment setting in the most confy way possible, the well known conductors whistle to denote completion of boarding and closing of doors.anf finally the locomotive whistle signaling departure...Then, the well known interrupted, monotonous but also so melodic ramble of the robust iron wheels on the rails inducing a sweet numbness and eylid drop to a refresshing nap so welcomed after the rush and interrupted only by occasional engine whistles to clear possible obstacles or to announce arrival to a station. Occasionally, a pleasant or...boring and forced chat induced by the temporary compartment companionship which, at least, is usually short lived not allowing enough time for dissapointments...

Old deserted stations have been an attracting subject for photography to me looking so melancholic and almost always ready to start telling a long hidden storry......
