The Haunting Figure of Newness
In a village beaten from weather and dead vegetation growth, A donkey cart masses me`with a woman and child. We are new to each other on the passageway.

like a detail of nativity gone wrong: a twisted version of mary, with snow falling on her veil and a face that resembles an operatic death, a face that's being echoed or unconsciously being parodied by that of her child that seems frozen in theatrical shock, deep fear or surprise – why, we don't know. maybe it's due to the snapshot, maybe due to some unspeakable trauma, some big unknown… – – hauntingly, bone-chillingly, unforgettably beautiful and gruesome! it gives us a hint of what mary's odyssey may have felt like… greetings, sabine. p.s.: oh, yes: merry christmas, dear glenn! ; )Berthold Klammer 20/12/2015 11:17
