The Living Forest (174) : They're here already !
In the forest, yesterday morning, 9 january 2012.
It should be snowing, it should be freezing, it should be bloody cold, but look what I found : the very first catkins of the year !
The shot shows male catkins on Common Hazel.
This deciduous tree is usually the earliest to wake up…….at the end of winter.
Is spring on the way ?
