The Living Forest (18) : Red deer calf
Last weeks I was exploring several forests in the Belgian Ardennes.
This is the 18th. picture of a series illustrating the living forest.
Growing up in the forest is not always easy. The mother of this Red deer calf was killed by hunters last autumn...... !
A big thanks to the local forester who helped me a lot and made it possible to take this shot.
Location : Eupen, Belgium (Hertogenwald)
Dutch name : Edelhert (kalf)
German name : Rothirsch (kalb)
Latin name : Cervus elaphus (vitulum)
