The Living Forest (319) : Harlequin Ladybirds

Harlequin Ladybirds (also known as multicolored Asian lady beetles) are native to Siberia, the Himalayas, Japan and China and have been extensively introduced by man in the USA and Europe for biological and effective control of various aphid species in greenhouses, crop fields and gardens.

However, it has also brought with it several negative effects.
Its establishment appears to decrease the diversity of native ladybird species.
