The Living Forest (349) : Roe deer

Deep down in the snowy forest, I had an encounter with a female roe deer at the break of dawn.

This wonderful animal is very well adapted to cold environments and inhabits mixed woodlands with dense undergrowth and open grassland all over Europe.
Peak activity is at dawn and dusk.

Dutch name : Ree
German name : Reh
Latin name : Capreolus capreolus

Shot was made out of a hut at -12°C.
In the immediate vicinity of the hut I had laid apples and berries on the snowy soil.
My intention was to lure wild boars, but it was this roe deer that came pretty close into my field of vision.
