The Living Forest (353) : Coral Carpet Stonecrop

Coral carpet stonecrop is a low-growing plant, specially adapted for growing on thin dry soils and can be found in rock crevices, dry river banks and along seashore rocks.

It forms a low carpet of small, rounded green leaves that are clustered together like little beads, changing to rich reddish-bronze tones late winter.
Small white star flowers appear in summer above the foliage.

This plant is also cultivated for commercial use in rock gardens.

Dutch name : Wit vetkruid
German name : Weisse Fetthenne (auch Weisser Mauerpfeffer genannt)
Latin name : Sedum album
