The sea garage

Greece
Aegean Sea
Cyklades
island of Melos
Klima a fishing village

Melos is a rather biggish and very interesting island in the Cyklades complex of volcanic nature and thus having suffered a lot of changes through a long life since the first time its presance is noted back in 2500BC as part of a thriving Cykladian civilization. Though, to my opinion, its most important spot is not the numerous and fascinating shores enjoyed every summer by the flocks of turists but Klima, a certain small fishing village that is worth visiting and get a flash of the daily life of the local fishermen.
Their colorful houses, marking a very picturesque line, are build right on the shore with their basements being their garages where, every night fishermen draw their most valuable item, their boats, in order to protect them of being smashed by the rough sea in the long and hard wintery period. One can see how elementary but masterfully those "garages" are designed so the boat can easily be pulled in, safely protected and be readily available for use next morning. Often the sea reaches in them. One protects his fortune no matter how modest is!..
It's lovely to enjoy an ouzo in the evening by the shore in this humble fishing village. And, I think, colour suits well on this occasion...
