The sidewalk highway
south of Miami, Oklahoma is a "jewel", quite unique and a must for those who travel the mother road. Unlike the rest of the stretches, it is only eight feet wide and is best traveled in dry weather. Built in 1922, due to lack of funds it is only half as wide as the normal road, but was still used until 1937 when it was finally bypassed.
