"Beauty is truth, truth beauty" said John Keats about nature as being both beautiful and transient. Rural Ireland is a place I grew up in: generations before me cut turf off the no mans land, danced on the stone floors in the shadow of the oil lamp, sang songs of the past and hoped for a future for their children and their children. Sometimes it feels spring and summer never pass this way but it does. It is black and white, light and shade, a decaying world where rubbled stone encases ghosts of the past but then again here the past is present tense. The ‘Irish Landscapes’ black and white photograph series was photographed between 2005 and 2010 and released as the photo book ‘Border Country’ in 2011.
