‘Van Vlaenderensmolen’ at Vinderhoute (Belgium)

This windmill was originally first built around 1591 (in wood).

On 15 march 1905, the mill was blown over as a result of a passing tornado, but was already rebuild in the same year, this time in stone.
Thorough restoration work followed in 1972 and 2008.

The mill is called 'Van Vlaenderensmolen' and its interior is from bottom to top now furnished as a luxury home and permanently inhabited.

Location : Vinderhoute (Belgium)

The Netherlands is generally known as the land par excellence of windmills, but we have in Belgium also some fine specimens.
