Vaporia
Siros, capital of Cyclades.
This is the famous quarter where the rich see merchants used to build their houses almost on the see so they were much like ship decks. (Vaporia in Greek means "big ships"). Now they are inherited by their descendants that...lack the money to preserve them!...

i do understand what nils means. the slender church towers on the left: they do look penciled into the sky – if it's the real mccoy – wow! a very unique place! and what sea dog bravado to built one's houses right on sea level! to me the whole bulk of the coast looks like the hull of a giant ship, with the huge cloud above it being its sail! ; ) a mythical place captured in beautiful light! my favorite detail: the dynamic flow of the water and the way its whitecaps look in monochrome! greetings, sabine.Lawson McCulloch 04/05/2013 11:16

What a wonderful place, set right on the sea towering above the waves. Superb details and I like the conversion to b/w I feel that colour would have made this rather confusing to the eye.:))
