The Vikos canyon is a natural gorge in the mountain of Pindos, region of Epirus in western Greece where the famous zagorochoria villages are located with a long and significant architectural, socio-economic and cultural history. Vikos canyon has a length of 25km, depth ranging from 150 to 500m and a width from 400 to only few meters at its narroest part. It is listed as the deepest gorge in the world by the Guiness Book of records and remains since old times a brave challenge to cross by many visitors and activists.From its northwest to southeast direction is carved over million of years by Voidomatis river, a tributary of Aoos river.
