... fühlt man sich in dieser Landschaft.

Looking back at Puyehue Volcano on our way to Los Banos. You feel tiny in this vast and forbidding volcanic landscape that is nevertheless (or just because of this?) fascinating. In three days we met six other trekkers - this almost comes up to the standards of Tore Straubhaar on their scandinavian winter treks :-)
Did you notice the unobtrusive stick in the foreground? This is one of the four waypoints we met. Unfortunately the one at the turning point from circling the volcano towards Los Banos is missing so a GPS and at least some known waypoints are highly recommended. Imagine a little fog here and a map will no longer seem sufficient.
Before you comment on it - the blurry spot to the right is not a quality problem but rising steam from one of the many spots where the earth is warm from the volcanic activity. This also makes for the strange patterns of the melting snow.
Yesterdays campground is on the other side of the volcano that we ascended from the back and then circled at the base in lots of snow
