Witch-Hazel

A well known winter bloomer is the Witch-Hazel with its striking shaped flowers.

It’s a large shrub or small deciduous tree, native to China, Japan and north America.
The Witch-Hazel was introduced into European gardens at the end of the 19th century.

The picture shows a cross breeding between a Chinese and a Japanese Witch-Hazel.
