Traces of destroyed beliefs in a small city on outskirts of Roman Empire. No one knows who this temple was dedicated to.

The Roman harbor temple of the Colonia Ulpia Traiana At the beginning of the reign of Trajan (Marcus Ulpius Traianus) the town received the status of colonia, being one of the 150 cities with the highest urban status in the Roman Empire. (archaeological park Xanten, NRW, Germany)

But even small Colonia Ulpia Traiana (Xanten) had everything one Roman city must have had:
a Temple, an Amphitheater and Baths. http://www.livius.org/x/xanten/CUT.html

The Nibelungenlied ("The Song of the Nibelungs", an German epic poem) tells that dragon-slayer Siegfried was born in Xanten: "Siegfried of Xanten". Known in Norse mythology as Sigurd.
