Morin Chuur violin with the horse's head

The horse head fiddle is called morin chuur in Mongolia. It is the traditional musical instrument of Mongolia and has only two strings and a bow. The strings are made up of 27 ponytail hairs. At the top of the instrument there is not only a horse's head, but also four other animal symbols: camel, cow, sheep and goat, representing the wealth and growth of Mongolia.
The instrument is considered the most suitable Mongolian instrument to accompany traditional dances and songs.
